Why Female Spiders Eat Their Mates

Gotta laugh at this which just came off Yahoo News:

"In many spider species, females eat the males after sex. Studies have suggested various complex evolutionary reasons involving costs and benefits to the species, sperm competition and esoteric sexual selection schemes." They concluded that since the males are usually smaller, they're just easier to catch. In species where the males are larger, they're not eaten.

I have a simpler explanation. Maybe the females eat the males because the males tick them off.
